Sutherland IFA is a lifestyle and financial planning company that provides independent and fully bespoke financial advice to individuals, companies and trusts.

Sutherland IFA was founded in 2013 with a view to adopting a modern and forward-looking financial planning approach.

Our clients, whose ages run from 8 to 92, come from so many walks of life and range from company owners and directors and managers to doctors, accountants, lawyers, teachers and trustees.

Whilst some are actively self-employed or employed within the private and public sector, others are retired or still in higher education.

One thing they all have in common, is that they want to know today, what their financial future will look like tomorrow.

By using sophisticated cashflow modelling software, we can show them, often for the first time, the truth about their financial situation, so that a plan can be put in place now, to help to help them achieve their personal and financial goals over the coming years, to help them do the things they want to do when they still can, and without fear of running out of money.

Meet Neil Sutherland, Founder

Neil SutherlandWith nearly 30 years’ experience in financial services, Neil founded Sutherland IFA in 2013.

Working from home, Neil is married and has two children, both recently graduated from university.

He lives with his wife and two cocker spaniels in Whiteparish, Wiltshire on the edge of the New Forest.

Neil was born in Singapore and spent the first twenty years growing up there, as well as in Brunei, Hongkong, Malaysia, the Philippine Islands, Australia and Yorkshire; since then, he has lived, worked and raised a family in London and Wiltshire.

In his leisure time, Neil can be found walking the dogs in the forest and nearby beaches, reading, studying slowly for an Open University History degree, cooking, especially Indian and Asian food and BBQing, and mucking around in boats on the Solent when not generally socialising and watching sport particularly rugby, cricket and football.

He is also the author of ‘Exterminating Poverty’, his first book published in conjunction with his brother Mark in August 2020; it tells the true story of the eugenic plan to get rid of the poor in British society during the early 20th Century and his grandfather Halliday Sutherland, a Scottish doctor who fought against it.
